Role Mission: The EMIS Coordinator for Ohio is responsible for managing the IDEA Public School’s collection, maintenance, verification, and submission of all data required through the Education Management Information System (EMIS), the Ohio statewide data collection system. This role elevates the level of design, implementation, and improvement processes and systems needed to ensure all schools and staff are empowered to facilitate their work with the highest degree of legitimacy and data integrity.
Compensation & Benefits
Salaries for people entering this role typically start between $57,141 to $68,569, commensurate with relevant qualifications and experience. This role is also eligible for a performance bonus based on individual and organizational performance and goal attainment.

Understanding of data-based principles and data analysis
Proficient in Excel
Position is required to work year-round
Education: Bachelor’s degree
Experience: 2+ years in data analysis, state education reporting, and managing projects; experience with EMIS systems and processes highly preferred
Possess or obtain “Certified EMIS Professional” designation through Ohio Association of EMIS Professionals
Serve as liaison between their district and their district’s Information Technology Center (ITC)
Serve as organization administrator for the OEDS Directory, assigning and delegating roles and other data as required
Interpret EMIS reporting requirements for the district and communicate them to appropriate staff
Ensure the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and transfer of district, building, staff, student, course, and financial data to EMIS, adhering to process schedules per the annual Data Collection Calendar
Coordinate data collection and verification processes
Develop a system of accountability with routine data checkpoints, procedures, and report verification
Communicate EMIS requirements, timelines, and to IDEA Public Schools staff, including national, regional, and campus-based leaders
Provide technical and training support on EMIS requirements and data best practices when necessary
Coordinate systems to enable efficient data reporting and report creation throughout the district for information such as special education, testing, student programs, grades, credits, career-technical information, course records, and other student and staff records
Coordinate the reporting of district’s data with other district staff and district Treasurer
Extract district data from various source systems and transmit files to ODE
Review reports in the Secure Data Center (SDC) and distribute EMIS reports received from the Department to appropriate district personnel
Investigate and troubleshoot various error reports, including partnering with other districts and/or community schools during the problem solving and resolution processes
Correct data and re-submit reports when necessary
Interpret data and other statistical information, and assist staff with the interpretation of EMIS reports
Monitor and adhere to all state and federal changes to EMIS reporting
Attend EMIS Coordinator meetings, seminars, workshops, conference calls, etc. to maintain accurate knowledge of EMIS requirements as needed
Generate recurring in-house and custom reports (e.g., enrollment, attendance and truancy, etc.)
Manage various internal and external data submissions
Possess or gain expertise with IDEA Public School’s Student Information System software
