The Mayerson JCC provides the Jewish and secular communities of Greater Cincinnati with resources, facilities, and programs which enhance their physical, intellectual, and social lives. The JCC helps to foster social connections between its members and guests alike, bringing people together through a wide variety of programs and events. With a state-of-the-art fitness center, highly regarded early childhood and senior centers, top arts and cultural events, and classes for every age, the JCC connects, enriches, and inspires over 27,000 visitors per month. POSITION SUMMARY
An Advocate works with the Community Life Coordinator, Counselors, and Unit Head in the implementation of age-appropriate, intriguing, and exciting camp programs and activities, adapting activities as needed. The Advocate will help provide a safe, nurturing, and fun environment for JCC day campers. 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsibilities:
Follow all Camp at the J and JCC policies and procedures
Participate in staff training sessions and orientation prior to the start of Camp season
Attend weekly staff meetings
Work with Community Life Coordinator to assist in the development of individualized behavior plans
Assist campers as needed (this may involve bathroom assistance, implementation of routines, schedules, procedures and meals)
Implement routines, schedules, and procedures for the operation of the bunk
Maintain positive working relationship with all Camp staff
Assist Aquatics staff with instructional swim and recreational swim as directed
Keep co-counselors, Community Life Coordinator, and Unit Head informed of any camper issues
Know all Camp staff
Help the camp staff to adapt activities so that all children can be included
Responsible for the safety and well-being of the campers in the bunk
Never leave campers unattended
Share in the implementation of age-appropriate activities
Participate in group and specialist Camp activities
When/where applicable, help facilitate Jewish learning in Camp programs
Share responsibility for the care of unit equipment, and cleanliness of Camp facilities with other staff
Assist in the implementation of any unit late night or overnight programs
Attend and participate in any Unit late night or overnight programs and Family Night activities, if applicable
Assist in arrival and dismissal of campers
Exhibit a positive attitude
Remain flexible and available to carry forth with all Camp related activities
Assist in the evaluation of the Camp program and activities at the conclusion of Camp
Ability to sit, stand, kneel, and stretch for long periods of time
Ability to work outside in high degree temperatures
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Perform other duties as assigned
 
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
18+ years of age preferred 
Previous camp experience a plus
Enthusiasm, upbeat sense of humor, patience, and love of fun
Desire and ability to work and play with children
Ability to take guidance and supervision
Team player
$11.00 per hour
