GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Assumes leadership role of the total high school environment including but not limited to, staff supervision, curriculum planning, school and community activities, and building management by performing the following duties. 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. Serves as building instructional leader both daily and through regular planning.
Plans, organizes and directs implementation of all school activities.
Engages the community and maintains on-going communication with parents regarding any issues or concerns.
Performs public relations responsibilities to the community including attendance at sporting and extra curricular activities.
Directs preparation of class schedules, cumulative records and attendance reports.
Recruits, interviews and makes recommendations for hiring of all building staff levels as needed.
Researches current instructional strategies and student assessment data for school improvement.
Conducts classroom observations and staff evaluation for reviews.
Assists and ensures a strong staff development program for the building.
Develops and evaluates educational program to ensure conformance to state and school board standards.
Evaluates the instructional program and makes recommendations for its improvement.
Plans and coordinates building goals and school improvement plan.
Oversees all operation aspects of the building including technology, safety, testing and security.
Communicates with students and families regarding college and career options and selections.
Collaborates with guidance counselor to monitor students’ credits for graduation and honors diplomas.
Confers with teachers, students, and parents concerning student’s educational and behavioral issues.
Oversees all state standardized testing.
Develops and maintains a fiscally responsible budget.
Maintains appropriate paperwork as it pertains to budget, personnel and facilities.
Assumes responsibility of maintaining up to date knowledge of technology utilized by the district.
Articulates district vision, financial goals and overall direction to staff and parents.
Other duties as assigned by Superintendent.
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises employees.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the district’s policies and negotiated agreements.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues and administration.  Ability to read, analyze and interpret testing and survey results, financial reports and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, agencies, teachers or members of the school community.  Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information to administration, staff, public groups, and/or Board of Education. 
 
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid certificate/license as issued by the Ohio Department of Education
 
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory based on school objectives.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community.  Ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication.  Ability to use computers where applicable.  Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
