6 Hours Per Day, 7:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION The shipping and receiving clerk position performs inventory management for all incoming and outgoing products and parts for the high school kitchen, position will also cover other Sycamore CNS programs at other buildings as needed.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Ensures all items ordered were delivered and are according to regulation temperature and of proper quality. Alerts CNS director of any issues with orders or deliveries. Notifies CNS director when product is not acceptable and returned to distributer and when direct ship and special order products are low in inventory and need to be ordered. Completes daily logs of products that are transferred to other buildings including vendor, item description and cost per case and submitted weekly to CNS Secretary. Routinely communicates via email and telephone regarding pertinent information requested by CNS director, secretary or kitchen supervisors. Coordinates equipment usage for special functions, catering and off-site events with Sycamore administrators, CNS director, PTO leaders, HS Supervisor, and others as needed. Work closely with the Sycamore Pony/Food Transporter by communicating items that need transferred to other locations. Ability to sub for the Sycamore Pony/Food Transporter position in addition to current job when necessary or if two people are needed on a delivery run (on rare occasion). Work closely with sales representatives delivering samples as requested by CNS director. Work closely with high school kitchen supervisor, to ensure her inventory is rotated on a consistent basis. Communicate directly with supervisors to ensure their needs are being met with regards to delivery of requested product. Effective communication required for all areas associated with the position. Complete monthly inventory of all items in storage cooler on loading dock and all commodity goods stored at the high school. Coordinate the movement of less frequently used items from the storage shed with CNS director as needed. Performs general housekeeping, maintenance and organization of the dock area related to CNS including hands on cleaning, rotation of laundry and the movement of pallets.
QUALIFICATIONS Ability to use the electric pallet lift. Proficiency in Google Docs, Gmail, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel. Must stay current in CNS HACCP program and routinely keep accurate documentation for all pertinent logs. Must be able to manage time appropriately to complete job tasks effectively on a daily basis with allowing for time for unexpected issues to occur and to be completed in time frame of position. Filling in extra time with additional cleaning, helping kitchen staff, and rotating inventory.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to staff, students and administrators. Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues and administration. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, agencies, teachers or members of the school community.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Exhibit qualities of leadership and organizational ability and reflect a spirit of cooperation in working with staff and school administration. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. The employee may be required to operate/drive a truck. Although, a CDL is not required, a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance will be required in addition to possible other requirements per Sycamore Transportation Director. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The temperature where the employee will be working may range from extreme cold (in the freezer) to extreme hot (a non-air conditioned loading dock) for long periods of time.
