WHO ARE WE?:

Atara Girls High School is a private girls high school school serving Cincinnati’s Orthodox Jewish community. Atara offers a college preparatory academic and cultural experience where girls thrive in a collaborative, interactive and intellectually challenging environment. Atara’s secular studies teachers come from all backgrounds, and are not expected to have familiarity or experience with Judaism. Our classes are interactive, skills-based and cultivate a passion for learning, critical thinking and personal integrity. Class sizes are small (classes generally range from 5 to 15 students) and students are responsive, respectful and a pleasure to work with. We offer teachers monthly professional development opportunities in addition to one-on-one support from an administrator once a month, or more if desired/needed. We believe that the best way to support our students is by supporting our teachers.
 
POSITION SUMMARY:
 
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced social studies teacher for the 2021-22 school year. This position is part time–the candidate would be responsible for teaching a total of seventeen 45-minute class periods per week. 
 
Class sizes are small (4 – 15 students per class) and we offer monthly professional development opportunities as well as one-on-one coaching and guidance. 
 
MORE ABOUT THE ROLE: 
 
The position includes the following courses:
9th Grade World History
10th Grade US History
11th Grade AP US History
12th Government (1st semester only) and Economics (2nd semester only)
 
CANDIDATES SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

We are looking for teachers who approach teaching in an interactive, student-centered way and integrate active participation techniques. 
 
* Bachelor’s degree required
* Teaching experience preferred
* Background check required
* Standard teaching license not required–as a private school our licensing requirements are different than the public schools and we will work with the right candidate to attain appropriate licensing (bachelor’s degree and background check are all that are needed for license)
