Southwest Local School District

The Southwest Local School District is hiring an internal substitute teacher for each of their buildings (Crosby Elem., Miami Whitewater Elem., Harrison Junior School and Harrison High School). Substitute teacher will report every school day and be placed into a teaching assignment or be given duties around the building if no classroom position is needed. Alternate duties may include providing intervention/enrichment to small groups of students, supervisional duties or any other task deemed necessary throughout the day. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide best practice instruction
Establish clear standards of student conduct and maintain an orderly, productive classroom environment.
Teach content and skills in the subject area according to the state standards and district curriculum maps, guides, etc.
Encourage students to think independently and to express original ideas
Maintain professional competence through in-service educational activities provided by the district and/or in self-selected professional development activities
Attend staff meetings when possible
Perform other tasks/duties as assigned by the building administrator
Qualifications/Characteristics:A positive and enthusiastic attitude- We have to work together as a team.  Enthusiasm for the subject matter and content areas is important as well.
Good communication & teaming skills.
Good organization skills. 
Be a team player
Flexibility- Expect the unexpected. The candidate needs to have to ability to be prepared when the daily schedule/routine is interrupted
Proper certification required.

Qualifications Profile:

Hold at least a substitute teaching license (4 year college degree needed)
Certification/License in education a plus (Ohio State Certification as a Teacher)
Education:Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university. Degree in education definitely a PLUS

The substitute teacher in this position will be paid through Hamilton County Educational Service Center’s Frontline/AESOP Substitute Teaching Management Program. Teacher will earn $92.00 per day worked whether in a classroom or small group. No benefits or sick time will be provided. Substitute will only work on days attended by students unless a special arrangement has been made with building administrator (possibly attending a District Professional Development program). Once hired, the teacher will need to register with Subsolutions (Frontline/AESOP)and provide all needed documentation to be paid.
