Must have minimum of Associates degree in human services, Bachelor’s degree preferred. Five years or more of on the job experience can be considered in lieu of degree.
Three years’ experience working with emotionally disturbed children or related experience is preferred.
Must achieve and maintain Teaching Family Model (TFM) Certification.
Must pass Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) Training which requires mastery of de-escalation techniques, crisis prevention and physical restraint techniques used on youth and adolescents.
Valid driver’s license, good driving record and proof of current vehicle insurance.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
Demonstrate and reinforce the Teaching Family Model through day-to-day teaching.
Maintain a safe and orderly therapeutic environment, in accordance with TFM and TCI, including supportive crisis intervention for Day Treatment youth.
Monitors environment, ensures it is safe place for youth and staff and reports potentially dangerous conditions to the appropriate supervisor.
Demonstrate understanding of trauma and its effect on children.
Utilize trauma informed approaches to the care of children.
Uses calming techniques to assist in the youth/client situations that might escalate to a problematic status.
Collaborate with other individual and group therapists, as well as other internal and external partners, in the effective implementation of therapeutic interventions.
Modeling and guidance of youth.
Assist with Day Treatment group activities.
Transport clients in personal or agency vehicle as needed and approved.
