General Job Description:
 
Responsible for any and all areas pertaining to administering health care.  Gives leadership and guidance in    the development of a total safe school program.  Participates in the formulation and implementation of policies, and follows all standards and objectives of a school health and safety program.  
 
Qualifications:
  Ability to obtain an Ohio Certification/Licensure by The Ohio Department of Education as a Registered School Nurse
 Valid Registered Nurse License issued by The Ohio Board of Nursing
 Certification to instruct CPR and AED courses to staff and students
 Must have experience with industrial safety
 Strong interpersonal and communication skills
 Strong organizational and technology skills
 Must pass a criminal background check
 Hold a valid Ohio Driver’s License

Responsibilities:
 Serves as a consultant to the administrators, parents, students and teachers in regard to the health and safety needs of the students.
Informs the administration and other school personnel with health and safety problems and resource in the school, home and community.
Participates in the development of methods to carry out policies and procedures for the control of communicable disease within the school and implements these procedures with school personnel and parents.
Participates in the implementation of board policies specific to medical items (diabetes care, use of epi-pens and inhalers, etc.)
Oversees the management of the clinic.
Keeps accurate and confidential student health records.
Provides for vision and hearing screening of school students at specific grade levels and teacher referrals as needed.
Provides basic first aid as needed for students and school staff.
Administers medicines to students according to board policy and regulations.
Completes and files an accident report on any injury requiring a doctor’s care or when documentation is deemed to be necessary.
Confers with pupils, parents and school personnel regarding health problems and interprets health needs of students.
Makes suggestions to staff, recommendations for adapting programs for those special need students who remain in the regular classroom, as regards to physical limitations and restricted activity.
Makes individualized and emergency health care plans (504) for students identified with medical conditions.
Serves as a contact between home and school on health concerns or issues.
Serves as resource person to all school personnel in matters of health and safety education.
Instructs health and safety in the classroom.
Confers with school personnel about maintenance of a safe clean and healthful school.
Assists in the development of tornado, fire drill and crisis procedures.
Implements school-wide blood borne pathogen policy.
Assists and mentors implementation of OSHA policies and regulations for the staff and students.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of technology utilized by the district.
Maintains an acceptable attendance record and is punctual.
Performs other duties as assigned

Salary:
 
Appropriate placement on the Certified Staff Salary Schedule to be determined by education and experience in the various sectors of the business field.  For School Year 2021-2022 this would be:  $43,552-$70,424.  Base contract is:  185 days; 7.5 hour workday.  One-year contract with opportunity for renewal.
