ASSISTANT FOOD SERVICE MANAGER

SUMMARY:  Under general supervision, assists Food Service Manager with operational duties to maintain food service processes throughout the district.  This may include preparation, food service and kitchen/equipment upkeep.  Reports to the Food Service Manager.

DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for accurately maintaining inventory of all food and non-food supplies.
Ensure all free and reduced lunch applications are appropriately decisional and replied to within the required time frame.
Coordinate desirable lunch selection using government commodities to ensure cost effectiveness while maintaining profits.
Create lunch menus which meet all USDA and nutritional guidelines.
Responsible for ordering all of food and non-food supplies via the Internet.
Ensuring the highest level of health, safety, and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
Ensuring all children are able to participate in the school lunch program by educating parents on food choices available when the need may arise (i.e., medical or diversity issues).
Ability to travel and assist in all aspects of cafeteria functions for the Springboro School District.
Proficient in use of computers and school software.
Assist in meeting budget requirements through comparison pricing of vendors.
Ability to attend seminars/workshops outside the district as needed or assigned.
Assist in all administrative duties such as collecting personnel time sheets and ensuring their accuracy.
Continual focus on exceeding all job performance expectations.
Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be 18 years of age and able to lift at least 50lbs.
Minimum 2 years experience in institution food preparation & service or equivalent.
Level 2 Food Protection Certificate (may be obtained after offer of employment)
Associates or Bachelor degree in dietetics; (Dietician RD or LD) or Certified Dietary Manager preferred.
Ability to operate institutional food preparation equipment.
Must maintain positive relationships with staff, administrators, students, and parents.
Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license.
Must pass criminal background check.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Effective Date:  2022/2023 school year
Type of Contract:  One-year probationary
Hours of Work: 5 hours per day.  193 days per year.
Salary (starting step 0 – $18.05/hr) and Benefits:  According to the exempt employee handbook.
