Sycamore Community Schools
Assists the principal in overseeing the total operation of the elementary school. Provides district – wide leadership to elementary curriculum and programmatic initiatives and planning as directed by the Assistant Superintendent.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assists the principal to ensure the school runs effectively and efficiently daily.
Serves as the school community relationship coordinator when the principal is unable to attend.
Assists in monitoring compliance of master contracts and Board policies and procedures.
Collaborates with the principal to ensure quality student achievement.
Serves as administrator overseeing intervention and special education students and staff.
Supervises non-certified staff and performs evaluations as applicable.
Assists in creating and implementing positive discipline programs.
Recruits and coordinates summer school scheduling.
Performs annual revision of emergency exit routes, and schedules and implements emergency drills.
Interviews substitutes and special needs education assistances and makes recommendations for hire.
Coordinates administration of all standardized and state testing.
Coordinates and assigns student teachers as applicable.
Coordinates multiple events including school pictures and new lunch procedures, assemblies, and student recognition events.
Collaborates with the principal to plan and coordinate building goals and continuous improvement plan.
Assumes responsibility of maintaining up to date knowledge of technology utilized by the district.
Develops schedules for school such as the master schedule, lunch and recess schedule, and others as the need arises.
Student discipline for school and bus behavior.
Schedules building usage for school as well and the UC Education Center, communicating calendar with district staff and building custodians.
Coordinates district Cultural Arts series for the elementary schools in conjunction with the Montgomery Woman’s Club.
Collaborates with principal to develop classroom placements/class lists.
Maintains and monitors inventory of consumable supplies and reorder products.
Collaborate with designated elementary subject leaders to plan and coordinate curriculum work.
Collaborate with designated elementary support personnel (counselors, intervention staff) to plan and implement appropriate student programming.
Coordinate designated special district events, such as Steam Council, Literacy Council and Author Visits, connected to curriculum initiatives.
Collaborate with district office and building principals, to plan and implement relevant professional development for elementary staff.
Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the district’s policies and negotiated agreements. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Ability to effectively present information to administration, staff, public groups, and/or Board of Education.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid certificate/license as issued by the Ohio Department of Education
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory based on school objectives. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication. Ability to use computers where applicable. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
